Scott McGillivray is a full-time real estate investor, television host, executive producer, writer, and educator
Prior to graduating from The University of Guelph, with an Honors degree in Commerce, Scott had already discovered his calling. What began as an ambitious school project about income properties soon developed into a unique and strategic business model that Scott would later execute himself. Now 10 years later, Scott has built his own real estate empire with dozens of properties, housing hundreds of tenants.
Scott is best-known as the host of HGTV's hit series, Income Property. In each episode, he rescues cash-strapped homeowners, and teaches them how to generate income from their existing residence. The series is now in production of its fifth season.
With the success of Income Property, 2011 saw Scott, alongside long-time colleague, Kit Redmond, establish SKIT Inc; a company solely devoted to the development of the Scott McGillivray brand. With the birth of SKIT, the savvy McGillivray has officially forayed into the world of producing, currently serving as an Executive Producer on Income Property.
Scott has also appeared in several other HGTV programs, such as Debbie Travis' Facelift, From the Ground Up, Holiday Battle on the Block, and All American Handyman, alongside Mike Holmes. As such, his practical approach to renovation and design has been profiled by the likes of ET Canada, Canada AM, Breakfast Television, ABC's Nightline News, The Today Show, and FOX News.
In addition to his television duties, Scott regularly contributes his writing to various national publications, such as The Globe and Mail, Canadian Real Estate Magazine, and most recently, Style at Home Magazine. His recurring Style at Home column debuted in the May 2010 Special edition of the magazine, and will continue to run until March of 2012.
Scott's hands-on approach to renovation and real estate has meant big business for this clever investor. Not only does he purchase and renovate properties, host a successful television series, and contribute content to national publications, but now, Scott can add "educator" to his repertoire. With the 2010 launch of his real estate coaching company, "Lifetime Wealth Academy", Scott has officially launched into the world of real estate education; sharing his wealth of knowledge with would-be property investors all over North America.
