Scott McGillivray, a 32-year-old real estate entrepreneur, rescues homeowners from the harsh real-estate market, by building income suites to help them afford their mortgages. In the face of current property value declines, Scott evaluates, plans, and executes renovations that provide long-term rental solutions for property investors.

In each episode, Scott presents homeowners with two options of which space to renovate into an apartment. With the help of state of the art renovation plans, enhanced by dazzling CGI and three-dimensional animation, Scott shows homeowners the path to success. In a constantly changing real estate world, the only way in is Scott's way out: an income property that generates money.

In this series, hosted by Molly Culver, 20 Americans from across the country have nailed the chance to be crowned the "handiest of them all". The goal of the series: to find America's best handyman (or handywoman), the one with real skill, integrity and the right stuff to impress the judges. To avoid elimination, contestants must showcase their abilities under the watchful gaze of celebrity judges Scott McGillivray and Mike Holmes, plus a secret weekly judge. All 20 contestants have proven they've got what it takes, but only one will walk away with the coveted title of "All American Handyman," a $10,000 Sears prize package, and an HGTV development deal.
